The Role

We are searching for an experienced Commercial Workspace Furniture Designer with 4+ years of systems furniture planning experience and proficiency with 3D rendering, BIM, and specification software.

As a Commercial Workspace Furniture Designer, you will work closely with our Design team to design, layout, specify, and procure commercial office furniture for small to medium-sized corporate office projects. DESIGN+BUILD is an open-line furniture dealer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create thoughtful and detailed furniture plans in industry-standard programs for commercial office spaces with systems furniture, free-standing case goods, collaborative furniture, lounge seating, accessories, and specialty items.
  • Create 3D Renderings of office interiors featuring our cutting-edge furniture designs for clients, sales support, and digital marketing programs.
  • Collaborate and organize with project teams to coordinate furniture goals and objectives with the larger architectural design objectives of the project.
  • Develop documents for conformance with design concepts and construction administration activities.
  • Review and understand drawings/concepts prepared by others.
  • Reading/responding to and developing FF&E bids and responses.
  • Deliver client presentations and serve as client’s point of contact for questions, comments, and requests.
  • Perform specific project interior design, space planning, and development tasks, including drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and FF&E specifications.
  • Provide client with feedback and follow-up.
  • Participate in meetings and activities.
  • Coordinate with the Construction team and furniture installers.
  • Perform as a team player.

 

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years systems furniture/space planning experience in commercial office space.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED plus bachelor’s degree and 4+years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Software Skills: AutoCAD, CAP, CET, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite, Sketchup, Enscape, Photoshop, InDesign.
  • A detailed understanding of how to specify systems furniture and knowledge of electrical components and potential issues.
  • Must have knowledge regarding building codes, ADA compliance, and space planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage several projects at one time.
  • Have a high level of proficiency in formulating furniture specifications in CAP/CET.
  • Extensive knowledge of contract furniture resources, finishes, pricing structures, and procurement processes.
